Spring! A Time For Awakening!

We took a drive today. Canadian geese were in abundance. This year, unlike others, we have had thousands of geese. I ask myself why and contemplate the why, but I see spring! Lovely, awakening, life giving spring. The beautiful song of the Sandhills Crane will replace the honking sounds of the Canadian Geese. Both are a sign of spring.

I begin to dream of flowers, vegetable gardening and maybe a new flock of chicks. So many things to be excited about. While we still have a few weeks of winter, and yes, we may have snow, hints of spring are all around us in nature and even my soul says, it is time for a new season.

Inside my home, I also feel a sense of renewal. Tidying up spaces, clearing out materials that no longer serve a purpose and adding a few storage items to make things a bit more streamlined and bring about less clutter. Some years ago, I read about Feng Shui. It is a way to arrange our living spaces to bring balance. Wood, fire, earth, metal and water. All of these elements tie together through balance and making spaces cozy and welcoming. It is amazing the changes when one re-arranges furniture in your living space, adding a splash of color with a new throw rug, or repurposing items you have placed in storage.

Spring, a time for rebirth and a time to plant seeds, wether they be seeds of improving your living space, your head space or your heart space. Spring is a time to get back to those things that are most important to you. As the days continue to feel chilly and bring things like snow, pay attention to nature, it is coming! Spring!

A Prayer in Spring
by
Robert Frost
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating ’round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
